This coastal cottage garden in Salcombe was a lovely project to be part of. The site was originally steeply sloped, presenting both challenges and opportunities, which were thoughtfully addressed through a sensitive design by Emma Cooke. The garden was reimagined into three clear, connected zones, creating a space that feels structured yet fluid and easy to use.

Beautiful local stone and natural materials were central to the scheme, grounding the garden in its coastal setting and allowing it to sit comfortably within the surrounding landscape. Carefully considered levels and transitions ensure the space flows naturally from one area to the next, improving access and usability while maintaining a relaxed, informal feel.

The result is a garden that balances practicality with character — a series of well-defined spaces that work together seamlessly, offering a calm and inviting outdoor environment perfectly suited to its coastal location.
